Little Red - Scripted Play

This week we have been writing play scripts using the dialogue from 'Little Red' by Marjolaine Leray. We have been thinking carefully about stage directions, including the use of fronted adverbials.

Character’s

Red

Wolf

Scene – two characters enter stage left. One slim spindly limbed black wolf closely following a small girl in a flaming red cloak.

Wolf: (Aggressively pull Red by the shoulders)

Red: Oi

Wolf: (Menacingly pull Red up to your face) Where are you going?

Red: To my granny’s

Wolf: (Carry Red like a rugby ball to right of stage) Oh no you’re not

Red: Why?

Scene – A square, rough table sits to the right of stage

Wolf: (Effortlessly place Red on top of table, licking lips) Dinner is served!!!

Wolf: (Tie a napkin around your neck)

Red: What’s to eat?

Wolf: (Hungrily leap at Red and ferociously roar) Joooseeey Red Meat!!!!

Red: (Surprisingly) Gosh, what big ears you’ve got?

Wolf: (Stroking ear, creepily) All the better to hear you with….

Wolf: (Snarl and bear teeth)

Red: (Bravely) You’re so hairy

Red: (Grab wolf’s snout) Wow, big eyes too

Red: (open wolf’s mouth with both hands) and those are seriously big teeth

Wolf: (Roar wildly) All the better to eat you with

Red: (Defiantly) No

Wolf: (shamefully, meekly) no?

Red: You’ve got stinky breath

Wolf: (Shocked) I do?

Red: (Hand over a sweet) Have a sweet?

Wolf: (Accept sweet confusing tone) um… thanks

Wolf: (Carelessly pop sweet into mouth and swallow)

Wolf: (With both hands grab throat and with a blood curdling scream) arrghhhh!

Red: (Sit interested but casually at edge of table)

Wolf: (Fall backwards with strained eyes)

Red: (Watch on without a care in the world)

Red: (Cruelly) Fool!
