Frankenstein Rhyming Poem
Eliza and Eve did an incredile job of using a rhyming poem to retell the story of Frankenstein.
Frankenstein by
Eliza and Eve
Victor’s mother took one last breath,
But her heart shone like the moon.
He was sad about his mother’s death,
And had to do something soon.
The graveyard was scattered with chipped, grey stones,
And on the ground lay a severed head.
Next to it sat a pile of decaying bones,
Victor stood in the territory of the dead.
In his laboratory surrounded by jars,
Victor worked tirelessly day and night.
Attaching limbs and sewing up scars,
He was about to get a shock and a fright.
The creation opened a dull yellow eye,
Victor had created a beast.
His friends and family about to die,
The monster had been released.
Frankenstein Haiku
We used poetry as a way to retell the Frankenstein story. Libby, Evie, Luka and Ameera used a series of haiku poems in their retelling. Enjoy

Frankenstein - A Gothic
Novel by Libby
Chapter I Volume I
The wind
howled through the trees, and pale streaks of lightning cracked the sky. The
moon started to hide behind the dark misty clouds. The rain wept against the
coffins of the dearly departed. The old, broken graves lay in an eerie
graveyard shielding the dead. Moss and lichen covered the names of the long
forgotten. Lost souls stayed inside of the old, rusty, black fence. It was here
in this place of the long forgotten that a man named Victor Frankenstein
dragged a life-less corpse from the ground.
Chapter I volume II
Victor’s
muddy brown, shoulder length hair hung lifelessly against his face. He had
electric blue piercing eyes. His face was pale from being up all night. Victor
who was devastated about his mother’s death became obsessed with collecting body
parts for his creation. Tired, determined, excited he worked day and night non-stop
in his laboratory.
Chapter I volume III
The
Laboratory was like an abandoned abattoir. The packed wooden shelves bent under
the pressure of hundreds of beakers and jars with unspeakable horrors inside.
The small, flickering flames of candles surrounded the laboratory and every
minute grew smaller. Victor had securely locked his windows and doors with
padlocks, planks of wood and chains. The unmistakeable aroma of rotten flesh
and bubbling liquids filled the air. Victor’s workbench was covered with
bubbling liquids and surgical tools and under his bench was discarded organs
and severed limbs.
Chapter I volume IV
In the
middle of the Laboratory hung Victor’s creation. He was eight feet tall with
skin the colour of ashen grey. His large muscular limbs were pieced together by
uneven stitches. The creature, who moments before had been life-less, opened
one dull yellow eye and let out a scream. The creature then broke free from his
chains. Trembling, Victor remained hidden from sight. Suddenly, the monster
started breaking the barriers and chains holding the door and window shut. The
monster was trying to break free. He kept smashing things up until he had a
space big enough to get through. The monster was gone.
Little did Victor know that his actions would
cost the life of his loved ones. Victor would spend his life regretting his
decisions and ask himself who was the real monster?
Frankenstein by Ameera
Frankenstein - A Gothic Novel by Ameera
Chapter I Volume I
The grieving
mist gripped tightly onto the graves not wanting to let the dead depart.
Raindrops pattered on the blanket of sodden leaves and thunder growled
overhead. The mossy, ruined gravestones stood like soldiers preparing for
battle. Moss and lichen covered the names of the long lost and forgotten.
Bending willow trees stood like mourners around an open grave. It was here in
this place of the dead that Victor Frankenstein dragged a lifeless corpse from
the cold hard ground.
Chapter I Volume II
Victor, who had piercing blue eyes quickly walked out of the
graveyard. The man had hazel, shoulder length, wavy hair. The young scientist,
who had eyes the colour of the deep blue sea, desperately searched to find the
cure for death. He had a ghostly paleness and a serious determined expression
on his face as he returned to his laboratory. Exhausted, gripped, frenzied,
Victor worked every possible hour experimenting in order to find the cure for
death.
Chapter I Volume III
The laboratory was as dark as pitch black smoke. The shelves
groaned under the weight of jars, cups, and test tubes. Each container held the
severed body parts of Victor’s previous experiments suspended in liquid. The
small flickering flames of candles made a puddle of wax. The rough, black door
was securely shut with wood and chains. The unmistakeable aroma of rotten flesh
and damp soil filled the air. Victor’s workbench held book’s and surgical tools
and underneath lay flesh and peeled skin.
Chapter I Volume IV
In the centre of the laboratory an eight feet tall lifeless
body hung suspended by large strong metal chains. His large, muscular arms were covered with
ragged stitches. The skin of the monstrous creation was grey like a wolf hunting
for prey. Slowly, a blood red eye opened and he let out a piercing scream.
Shocked, bewildered, and confused, the creation stared at his master furiously.
A moment later, the monstrous grotesque creation snapped the chains holding
him. The hideous creation terrified Victor. The monstrous growl of his creation
caused Victor to quickly hide in the shadows. The massive muscular monster then
crashed and smashed his way out of the laboratory leaving a trail of
destruction behind him.
Little did Victor know that his actions that night would
lead to him losing everyone he loved. Victor would spend his life regretting
his decision and ask himself ‘who was the real monster?’
Frankenstein by Maisy
Frankenstein - a Gothic
Novel by Maisy
Chapter I Volume I
The wind
wailed longingly as it gripped tightly onto the graves not wanting to let the
dead depart. The lightning struck across the sky sending a bright silver arc splitting
the sky in half. Moss and lichen covered the engravings of the long dead and
forgotten. The old grave stones made sinister creaking noises as if they were
going to topple over. The overgrown nettles strangled the decrepit crumbling
graves. In the distance there was the hooded figure of Victor Frankenstein
.
Chapter I Volume II
Victors jet
black, unkempt shoulder length hair hung lifelessly around his snow white face.
Victor who had a raven tailed coat like burnt ash walked determinedly between
the slabs of stone, shovel in one hand and a sack of severed limbs in the
other. The young scientist, who had eyes the colour of electric blue waves, desperately
searched for the cure to death and disease. Victor hurried back to his
laboratory to continue with his gruesome experiments.
Chapter I Volume III
The laboratory
was as dark as the shadow of the grim reaper. The shelves groaned under the
weight of the hundreds and thousands of beakers and test tubes filled with unspeakable
horrors suspended in liquid. The candles scattered across the room formed huge
wax puddles under the desks. The secure oak door was securely barricaded shut
with thick planks of wood. The unmistakeable aroma of rotten, decaying dead
flesh caused Victor to gag. As Victor was working on his creation a pool of blood
was forming at his feet and rotten, discarded body parts piled up on the floor.
Chapter I Volume IV
In the centre
of the laboratory hung an 8 feet inhuman, unnatural creation strapped to strong
heavy metal chains. The skin of the creature was rotten, decaying and ashen
grey. His limbs where muscular and pieced together with uneven ragged stitches.
Suddenly the creation opened one blood red eye. Frightened, shocked, confused
the creature woke up and stared at his surroundings. The creature, which had moments before had
been lifeless, let out a blood curdling scream. With a monstrous roar, the
monster broke free from the laboratory.
That night
Victor had cost himself everything…

Victor's Laboratory
We are continuing to work hard on our own versions of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. To help us with our descriptions of Victor Frankenstein's laboratory we created our own version in J4.
