We created some collage art inspired by an image of Frankenstein's monster.

Electricity Explanantion by Sarah
Here is Sarah's explanantion on electricity and electrical circuits.
What is Electricity?
Electricity is a source of energy that can be generated by
many things such as batteries, the sun and wind power. Electricity is used to
power many things such as lights, radios, cars, trains, hairdryers and much more.
These items all contain an electrical circuit. An electrical circuit is a path
through which an electrical current flows. You can build a simple circuit to
see the flow of electricity in action.
What do you need to build a circuit?
To build a circuit you will need wires, batteries, crocodile
clips and a bulb or any other receiver.
How do you build a circuit?
First, gather the necessary materials and check each part
carefully because any damage might result in an electric shock. Next, place the
batteries into the battery pack. Make sure they are the right way round in
relation to polarity (+, -) so that the electricity will flow through the
circuit. After that, attach one crocodile clip to each of the metal circles on
the battery pack. A few moments later, attach the other end of the crocodile
clip to the metal screw of the bulb holder. Then, repeat with the other wire so
that the two wires lead from the battery to the bulb holder. Finally, you will have
formed a circuit and as a result electricity will flow through the circuit and
light the bulb.

Plasma Ball
Dylan brought in his plasma ball for us to experiment with. We were inspired to write creatively about our experience.
Plasma Ball by Jake
Slowly, I took my hand and placed it on the sphere. “Arghhh!”
I yelled. Paralysed, hypnotised, intrigued, as soon as I touched it I heard a
buzzing sound like a swarm of bees ready to sting me. Suddenly, I realised
there was a creature inside the orb.
Quickly, something jolted towards me and I felt my hand
getting hotter and hotter. Soon, I discovered it was looking for somewhere to
escape.
The monster’s arms reminded me of lightning bolts coming
wave after wave down to earth. Almost instantly, it retreated back into its
starting position because it had failed to find it’s exit to the rest of the
world.
Plasma Ball by Niko
Cautiously, I placed my hand against the glass. I watched
the creature come to life as it jolted towards me at an unbelievable speed. It
was desperately banging on the glass hoping to find a way out.
Frightened, scared, terrified, I laid two hands on the orb.
It let out a piercing scream like nails being dragged on a blackboard.
The mysterious creature’s tentacles reminded me of red and
blue lightning strikes jutting across the skies. Burning brightly the creature
wrapped itself back into its starting form.

The Breakfast Machine
We found a way to help our Year 6's with some last minute SAT revision.
The Breakfast Machine by Georgina
Are you desperate to squeeze in some
last minute revision? Do you want to start your day with a nutritious
breakfast? Do you want to combine the two with a perfect time saving solution?
"Yes, yes and yes!" I hear you cry! Luckily I’m here to help you with
a few simple instructions that will help with your difficult SATs.
You will need
Ramps
Pool balls
String
Tape
Toasters
Hammers
Book
Cup
Bread
Jam jar
Pulley
Hammers
Bicycle wheel
How The Machine Works
- Firstly, the page (which is attached to a string) is turned
- The string pulls the cover off the jam jar releasing the heavy pool ball (It is not though a ball for a pool!)
- The pool ball quickly descends as it goes down
the ramp.
- Moments later, the pencils release hammers that strike the toasters causing toast to pop up unexpectedly. The toast allows the ball to continue on it's journey.
- Suddenly, the ball falls into a pulley before travelling down more ramps.
- In a flash, the ball falls into a cup which is
placed on a bicycle wheel.
- Finally, the weight of the ball causes the wheel to turn bringing a piece of toast swinging into your mouth.
Hope this helps with your SATs!

Electrical Conductors
In Science we discovered some
materials let electricity pass through them easily. These materials are known
as electrical conductors. While experimenting we found that coins, keys, scissors, tin foil and zips worked as
electrical conductors.

Willow Plate Narrative
We worked collaboratively to rewrite the Willow Plate poem as a narrative adding more description and using a range of sentence types.
The Willow Plate by Table 3
Many years ago in China there stood a garden where every
shade and hue of blue was represented within the carefully arranged flower
beds. From sky blue petals of hydrangeas to royal blue irises, the garden was a
sea of blue. It was here that the Emperor, who had ruled for many years, stood
and watched the soldiers leave to capture his beloved daughter.
Safi
Running, the princess raced across the bridge while the
loyal, heavily armed soldiers ran speedily in pursuit.
Shared Writing
The beautiful, elegant princess took the hand of the young,
courageous man and escaped the prison grounds. Gripping tightly to her lover’s
hand the princess breathed heavily as they approached a boat. Clambering, the
couple climbed aboard the vessel and fled to an abandoned cottage on a nearby
island.
Malachi
The Emperor went ballistic when he had discovered his
daughter had disappeared. He ordered his soldiers to capture the princess and
to kill the handsome young man. The soldiers tracked down the couple to a
cottage and set it on fire
Tom
As the cottage burst into flames and the roof started to
crumble the flames licked the couple’s flesh. Then like magic, two birds, who
were the colour of the ocean, appeared from where the lovers once stood. They
fled from the island and never returned.
Hana
The Emperor was confused, troubled, worried about the loss
of the princess. With a weary sigh, he drooped in sorrow. Slowly, his arms
transformed into the gnarled, twisted branches of a willow tree. His body was
now a brown, bending trunk and tears fell from the leaves like rain drops.
Niko
He wept and wailed surrounded by a sea of blue. For not a day
went by without him missing his daughter. It all happened in ancient China, a
long time ago.

Willow Plate Newspaper Report
We used Tony Mitton's Willow Plate Poem as inspiration for newspaper reports. Here are Vincent's and Gabriel's reports.
